After having such a great result with the rather good value for money Texspeed jacket I had purchased previously I decided to roll the dice again after I discovered several large tears and holes on my old summer gloves. I’m really not surprised as I’d worn them through my December CBT, the following winters training and then part way through the next one in all weathers.
Flushed with success, £25 and an eBay code to get more extra points, I ordered a set of gloves. The pic is actually a very good representation of the product as it arrived. The first alarm bell was the lack of leather smell.

How did they feel?
Frankly they were uncomfortable, but being leather I expected some time before they would flex appropriately. I was prepared to wear them in, obviously in the dry only. Sure enough in four weeks they DID feel a lot more comfortable, and they are quite nice to wear. After four weeks however, there was a different problem:

What the cow?
Despite not getting them wet, or doing anything in them except riding my bike it was pretty clear they were sustaining quite a bit of wear and tear from just being outside. It’s been fairly mild this year with hardly more than a few days above 30C, and despite impromptu random showers, they haven’t been drenched or experienced any harsh conditions.
So what now?
Well I’m going to keep wearing them until they are truly dead, which at this rate means they will probably be useless before my winter gloves come back out. For £25 were they worth it? Franky no, not unless your gloves just combusted and you have a ride in a couple of days after spending all your money on a tent etc. Just save the money and put it towards something else.
