Unless you were living under a rock recently you would have seen the announcement a week ago that Triumph considered the 400cc Bajaj built line so successful, they would bring out a 350cc line up. This would have Triumph positioned, very much like RE with a bike at both A2 price points.

Then bang! Friday we got this bag boy teased via Bikewale. A 350cc incarnation of the Bonnie. We don’t know stats yet, but frankly that’s not the reason you would be buying any retro-classic motorcycle so you probably don’t care anyway.

I am sure in about 6 months time when the UK/US Moto journalists finally wake from their perpetual slumber we will get the usual “Enfield killer” headlines etc. *Yawn* I don’t really think RE has anything to fear here tbh, this is going to retain aging riders who don’t want to be lugging their T120 around, and commuters who wanted a Classic looking Triumph but don’t want the fuel bill, or the chance of their pride and joy getting dinked by Dangerous Dave on his MT-15.

It also helpfully reinforces the viability of the 350cc platform on the global front as I doubt we will have to wait too long until this comes to the UK. I think the biggest loser will most likely be Honda and the barely supported GB350. Maybe they will start shipping the custom packs and accessories over too as a pre-emptive strike? Who knows??
