So as a lot of you have gathered from my inane jabbering, an absolute gent of a fellow biker visited the East on his way back to the Netherlands and I got the opportunity to ride for a day with someone who wasn’t my colleague. (Nothing wrong with you Sheepy!)

After a coffee, cake and some satnav related shenanigans, and being the host after all (related to it being Norfolk) I ended up leading. It wasn’t something I have realistically done before, but I was up for the challenge and figured there was only one way to learn, and that was by actually doing it and adapting my riding style on the fly.
What I realised early on.
Suddenly after a few miles you realise that all those things you take for absolute granted are just part of the picture, it’s not just a matter of knowing if I have enough room to pull out, but does the person following me? Do they have line of sight around this bend? Can they see me turning down this road or am I going a bit too fast for them to turn in time?
I had a mini moment where I was concerned id pulled too quickly and had to throttle back for a few hundred metres, it turned out to be totally innocent and more to how another motorist had decided to act, Vs something I had done.
Honestly despite the great company I was absolutely knackered when I got home that night and I have a healthy respect for anyone who is doing this for a living, especially when multiple riders are involved with different abilities, skill and styles of bikes.
Do I want to have another crack at it in the future? Absolutely, and i’m chuffed to bits I got the opportunity to experience it this time. Thanks Frank!
