The Royal Enfield 750cc Interceptor.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock in the last few months you will have spotted a number of articles and spy shots floating around on the new 750cc ‘upgrades’ being issued to the Interceptor, Continental & the new Himalayan twin. The larger bore will enable the new 750cc to achieve additional BHP and Torque.

So why am I calling folly?

At 750cc this will now place it beyond the A2 licences in the UK. As potentially as young as 19 a new rider could throw their leg over a gorgeous Retro-classic bike and brarp around feeling like an absolute boss, not now they can’t.

I know what you are probably thinking here, not many people bother with A2 and jump straight to a full A. However, the government (s) have been looking at several considerations in regards to upgrading long term repeated CBT takers towards an A2.

A further kick to this is the likely price rise and possible conflicts with other middleweight motorcycles. If you have the finances for an RE, do you have a few extra £££ for a Moto Guzzi (for example) and all that shaft driving goodness? Probably.

      2. I’m not sure they would let me, they probably want Santosh or some absolute pro to do it.
